I found Avadon less fun after a certain point because while I appreciated the storyline and how it's history advanced over it's 3 chapters, once you get far enough in you get herded along the main quest to the exclusion of doing anything else, and some of the quests made me feel morally compromised and I just really hate Redbeard. There's a lot more free-exploring and side quests in Avernum (especially A:EFTP and A3:RW, with their ginormous maps). Originally posted by mxc:I like the Avernum games far more than the Avadon ones. However, it's the one Avadon game I will definitely play over again. That's probably why I spent more time completing it than the other parts. The first of these games I ever played was Avadon: The Corruption, without actually reading anything about the game or series first, including the instructions, and I forgot I even had spells until I was more than halfway through. Of both trilogies, my favorite to least favorite games in descending order and hours played to the (obsessively completionist) end:ฤก) Avernum: Escape From The Pit (105 hours) I honestly doubt I will ever replay Warborn, and at the end of Black Fortress I just wanted it to be over. The Avernum games have more content, bigger maps, more side quests and more freedom A:EFTP is my hands down favorite, A3:RW has extremely challenging (and at times frustrating) multi-part quests and the addition of having the world changing, sometimes radically, over the passage of time may make it the most replayable of either series. I like the Avernum games far more than the Avadon ones.
